Why I’m a Good Science Beauty Devotee

Our skin is important: it is, after all, the largest organ in our body. Yes, it is an organ. Why am I writing about this topic now? Several months ago, the team from Good Science Beauty (GSB) asked me to try out their skincare and give my feedback.  A few days later, the items arrived. I started using them, and within a couple of weeks, I was blown away.

The technology is unique: GSB is formulated to be absorbed by the skin AND remain active long enough to “get the job done.” It is powered by “Good Silicon,” a patented technology that keeps the ingredients fresh and active, boosts their absorption on the skin, and releases them over time.

The founder, Suzanne Saffie-Siebert, PH.D., is a leading expert in the “science of transporting pharmaceutical compounds to their target sites in the body.” Her biotechnology company, SiSaf, specializes in needle-free drug delivery. Skin ingredients usually degrade easily over time when exposed to light and air, but Silicon is the ‘secret’ potion: it enables products to be absorbed and remain active. Phew, that is a lot of science to absorb. No pun intended. But does it work?  For years I was searching for something that would make my skin glow. Shopping for the elusive products was tiring and made my head spin. And just how different is one derma line different from another?  When I opened the GSB (in beautiful brown bottles), I sensed it was different from any other.

I am a label reader. The verbiage found on the 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream: “Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Provides intense moisturization. Rich with antioxidants for healthy, radiant skin. Restores youthful spring and resilience to the skin.”  Turns out that all of this is true. I was not looking to take a decade off my age, but I was hoping to look my best at my age. I apply it in the morning and before bed. It contains Poria cocos, a powerful humectant boosting the skin barrier. It also contains barley extract, which promotes collagen synthesis and helps to even out skin tone. There is a weightlessness to the formula that feels so clean and so healthy.

I wanted to know more about these ingredients, so I turned to the National Institute of Health (NIH) National Library of Medicine. NIH is one of the top medical research centers in the world. I read two articles from peer-reviewed studies. Both contained data indicating that Poria cocos and barley extract have shown anti-skin-aging properties in test groups.

Science is behind Good Science Beauty. I am a person who examines the facts, and these are facts that I like.

I am 67 and look my age.  My skin has lines, and the tone is uneven. I have a touch of rosacea and wish for small pores. My life is a good one, but a challenging one, and who I am is reflected in my skin. Since using 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream, my pores are smaller, and my rosacea lessened. The tone is brighter, and my lines are softer. As some of you may know, I was recently signed by a prestigious modeling agency.  It is imperative that my skin remains clear, bright, and blemish-free for casting calls and photoshoots.  At a recent shoot, I applied the 005 Skin Firming Cream, and the only makeup on my face was lipstick and mascara. I now have that glow.
