the Unexpected someone
My name is Cynthia Sitcov and I'm the woman behind The Unexpected Someone.
I grew up in a family of clothing retailers and was surrounded by well-dressed family members. My maternal grandma, Eva Greenbaum, was still a fashion icon in her 80’s. And here I sit, at age 66, wanting to channel Eva.
For 35 years I worked in corporate America and was always a goal setter. When my gig in corporate ended, it was natural for me to create a new plan, one that would take me “back to my roots,” so to speak.
The idea for The Unexpected Someone evolved over time. I would often get stopped on the street because of my “look”. People would ask me if I was an “influencer.” My response was always, “No,” but I liked the idea of a 60-something influencer and thought that maybe I could be just that… and a new goal was set.
I have become a huge proponent of sustainability in fashion, a practice that has created a major shift in garment making, from sourcing to production to sales. I feel strongly about this, so you will no doubt hear more about it if you follow me.
For over 45 years I have been an MS Warrior. I am now in the “last third” of my lifetime, assuming I live until my 90’s. I believe I have information worth sharing about growing older and I want to help redefine how aging is thought of as well as what it looks and feels like.
I am a fashion follower and fashion initiator and am ready, willing, and able to share ideas about styling. I am committed to Liberty and Justice for all—and making sure everyone has at least one cool outfit that makes them feel great!
